Taylor Swift Joins Elite Ranks With History-Making 6 Weeks At No 1

Nashville, TN. (Top40 Charts/ Big Machine Records) - Taylor Swift is in good company this week as her third single 'Our Song' (which she wrote by herself for her 9th grade talent show) spends its 6th consecutive week at No 1 atop Billboard's Country Singles Chart. Taylor joins Carrie Underwood, Faith Hill, and Kitty Wells as the only women in history to spend 6 weeks atop the country singles chart. Connie Smith holds the record at 8 weeks.

The video for 'Our Song' this week returns to the No 1 spot atop CMT's Top 20 Video Countdown, marking its 5th week at No 1. Her self-titled debut CD is currently in its 9th week in the No 1 position atop Billboard's Country Albums sales chart and is at No 5 on Billboard's all-genre Hot 200 Albums sales chart. Taylor Swift, released on Big Machine Records, has sold in excess of 2 million copies and spent more weeks at the top of the country sales chart last year than any other release.

Also this week, Taylor surpassed the 35 million mark for music streams on MySpace, where she is consistently ranked Country's No 1 artist. And, Taylor will be performing on two national television shows-she will make her second appearance on NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on January 15th, at 11 p.m. EST/PST and on the 17th will guest on the top-rated syndicated The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
