Century City, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Baby Grand Publishing) - Margie Balter's sensual and passionate piano music has been described as "music that makes you fall in love." On Wednesday, February 13 she will perform at Barnes & Noble at The Grove at 7:30 p.m., just in time for Valentine's Day. The performance /signing is a celebration of the release of her debut CD, "Music From My Heart."

Margie Balter is known as "Hollywood's Piano Teacher To The Stars," a title she's earned for coaching actors Holly Hunter, Scarlett Johansson and Tom Cruise for Oscar caliber performances. Fourteen films and counting, Margie's clientele is a "who's who" of the Hollywood elite.

Music From My Heart: Solo Piano Pieces by Margie Balter, has received critical acclaim from respected artists such as Taj Mahal and Thomas Newman. "This really is music from my heart," said Balter. "That's why I chose to do this performance around Valentine's Day. I want to emotionally affect people."

Margie Balter's theatrical coaching career was catapulted when she signed on to coach Holly Hunter for the film "The Piano." With the help of Margie's skillful direction and assistance, Hunter immersed herself in the piano for the film and went on to earn the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance. Following the success of "The Piano," Balter coached Tom Cruise (Interview With A Vampire), Scarlett Johansson (The Man Who Wasn't There), Sandra Bullock (The Net), Jack Black (The Holiday), Barbara Hershey (Portrait Of A Lady) and Kevin Spacey (Beyond The Sea). She has also performed for countless audiences, including private event performances for Dustin Hoffman, James Garner, Michael Keaton, Michelle Pfeiffer and David E. Kelly.

Margie has also enjoyed success with her own compositions having contributed to numerous films and composing Dan Jansen's theme for the 1988 US Olympic Committee film "City Of Gold." Balter's work is recognizable in the MGM film "Beauty Shop." In addition to coaching the film's stars Paige Hurd and Djimon Honsou, she composed the piece "Finding My Wings," which is featured prominently in Hurd's piano recital scene. Balter also played and arranged solo piano segments for the film.
