About the artists:
Josh Groban, whose recent holiday album, the multi-platinum "NOEL,"
catapulted to the No. 1 slot on Billboard's pop charts, continues to win fans around the globe with his classically influenced pop sound. The 26-year-old Grammy-nominated Los Angeles native possesses more than just a silken baritone voice that critics have called "deliciously flawless." His last three albums on Reprise Records have sold more than 17 million copies worldwide and he recently completed a critically acclaimed, sold-out "Awake" tour, which was seen by close to a million fans. His CD "AWAKE" included several co-writing and co-producing credits. Says Groban: "Annie Lennox, who is one of my greatest inspirations, once told me, 'Life is too short. You have to go where it thrills you.' That's a mantra I follow on stage, off stage, and in the studio.'"
Missy Higgins' new album, "On A Clear Night" (due Feb. 12, 2008), retains the irresistible melodies and piercing lyrics of her critically lauded debut "The Sound of White,"
which was Australia's best-selling album of 2005. The quiet strength of the new songs reflects Higgins' newfound confidence and changing worldview. A major star in Australia, she has grown up in public and "On A Clear Night" is the diary she's kept along the way.
Melee is a young, melodically rich power-pop quartet from Orange County, Calif., whose Warner Bros. Records debut album, "Devils & Angels,"
was produced by Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance, Daughtry, All American Rejects) and released in April of 2007. Melee's keen knack for perfect pop hooks, impassioned vocals, and feverish guitar textures led Alternative Press Magazine to ask: "What's not to love?"
Born in Mississippi and based in Nashville, singer-songwriter Jeremy Lister has quickly become a celebrated figure on the Southern pop/rock club scene. Thanks to an ever-growing live following that was built on the back of a pair of independent EPs and a reputation as a great live performer, Lister signed to Warner Bros. Records in 2007 and recorded a four-song EP featuring the signature track "Just One Day,"
produced by Greg Wells and mixed by the legendary Michael Brauer. Find his "Just One Day" EP online at iTunes and wherever Lister is playing tonight. A full-length album is due in 2008.
Michelle Branch released her first album in 2000 and never looked back. "The Spirit Room" followed in 2001 on Maverick Records and spawned the hits "Everywhere" and "All You Wanted." Another pair of hit singles from the album "Hotel Paper" - "Are You Happy Now" and "Breathe" - elevated the young artist to world-class status by selling more than 5 million copies. In 2005, Branch teamed up with singer-songwriter Jessica Harp to form country music duo, The Wreckers. Their 2006 debut album "Stand Still Look Pretty" spawned three singles including the No 1 hit "Leave The Pieces,"
making them the first female duo to top the country charts in more than 50 years. The Wreckers released their live CD/DVD "Way Back Home: Live From New York" on Dec. 4th, 2007. Branch is currently working on her solo album to be released in 2008.
At only 24, singer/songwriter/actor Tyler Hilton is a familiar face and voice who has been writing songs from the age of 14. He's known to many for his roles as "Chris Keller" on the CW hit show "One Tree Hill,"
and as Elvis Presley in the 2005 Johnny Cash biopic "Walk The Line." His album debut for Maverick Records, "The Tracks Of,"
was released in 2004. He has recently completed work on the film, "Charlie Bartlett,"
due in theaters February 2008, and is currently in Nashville writing songs for his next Warner Bros. Records release also due in 2008.
Brooklyn's The Honorary Title began as a moniker for Jarrod Gorbel's solo folk musings. But in the last few years, it has evolved into a full-fledged quartet that recently released its second album and major-label debut, "Scream and Light Up the Sky" - a beautifully ragged collection of subtle indie pop with hints of Americana, Britpop, and punk.
MoZella is an acclaimed, soulful pop singer-songwriter from Detroit. She has toured the U.S. extensively with the likes of Dave Matthews Band, Daniel Powter, Lifehouse and others. Her songs have been featured on TV and in film, on screens large and small: "One Tree Hill,"
"Las Vegas,"
"How I Met Your Mother,"
"Bones,"
"Wildfire,"
and "What About Brian." Her debut album "I Will,"
produced by Jude Cole (Lifehouse, Rocco DeLuca), was recorded at Kiefer Sutherland's Ironworks studio and released in November 2006 on Warner Bros. Records.
He's the ethereal voice, songwriting powerhouse, and full-contact keyboardist behind Something Corporate, the piano-rock quintet praised for its "combination of intelligent lyrics, infectious melodies, and killer piano." More recently, Andrew McMahon has also offered up an angst-flavored side project on Maverick Records - the highly personal theme album "Everything in Transit" under the name Jack's Mannequin, released in August 2005. A new album is due April 22, 2008.
A native of Virginia who got his start playing coffee shops in Southern California, Atlantic recording artist Jason Mraz released "Waiting For My Rocket To Come,"
his debut album, in 2003. The album, which featured the smash hits "The Remedy (I Won't Worry),"
"You & I Both,"
and "Curbside Prophet,"
went on to be certified platinum for sales of more than 1 million. Two years later, Mraz scored a Top 5 debut on the Billboard 200 with his follow-up studio album, "MR. A-Z,"
which featured the multi-format smash "Wordplay" and "Geek in the Pink." Mraz has made several national TV appearances, including "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,"
"Late Night with Conan O'Brien,"
and "Jimmy Kimmel Live." A captivating live performer, Mraz has shared the stage with the likes of the Dave Matthews Band, Coldplay, Bob Dylan, and Alanis Morrissette. Jason just recently finished recording his third studio album, "WE SING, WE DANCE, WE STEAL THINGS,"
which will be released later this year.
Eisley, the dreamy, indie-pop band from Tyler, Texas, is comprised of four DuPree siblings - Chauntelle, Sherri, Stacy, Weston, and cousin Garron. They bring their signature harmonies and hauntingly beautiful lyrics to a whole new level with their second release, "Combinations,"
out now on Reprise Records.
