
HUDSON, OH. (Top40 Charts/ Hudson High School
Music Association) - On Saturday, February 23, 2008 the sounds of Jazz will fill the Hudson High School Auditorium as Jazz Bands from Cuyahoga Falls, Solon, Stow, Wadsworth, Jackson, and the three Jazz Bands from Hudson High and the Hudson Middle School perform.
The public is invited to see these jazz ensembles perform, free of charge, starting at 12 PM and running consecutively through until 4 PM in the Hudson High School Auditorium. The High School is located at 2500 Hudson-Aurora Road, about 1/4 mile west of Stow Road. Each student will also experience instrumental sectional workshops and improvisational clinics.
The Jazz Fest will conclude with a performance by The Horn Heads at 7:30 PM. This group of extraordinarily talented horn players has been gathering international acclaim since 1991. All of the Horn Heads are top session players and have performed with such artists as Prince, Janet Jackson, Rod Stewart, James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Dizzy Gillespie, and Doc Severinson.
As members of Prince, The Horn Heads recorded more than 20 CDs and performed for over 2 million concertgoers in 20 countries. Q Magazine in London, England described them as a "peerless, horn section... playing in bare brilliant syncopation, punching with a staccato precision."
As a solo ensemble, this cappella jazz group brings their distinctive flair, combining virtuosi improvisation with sizzling ensemble work to create a truly musical experience. They delight audiences with their artistry, versatility, and precision. They have produced three CDs: "Fat Lip," "5 Heads are Better than 1," and "HornHeads." "I Love Las Vegas," a Big Band CD featuring The Horn Heads, is now available at all Target stores. Concert tickets for The Horn Heads are $15 and may be purchased the night of the concert from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. Tickets may be purchased at The Learned Owl Book Shop located at 204 N. Main Street in Hudson. Individuals may also call the Hudson High School Band Room at 330.653.1452 to secure their tickets or purchase them from any Hudson High School Jazz I Member.
