New York, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Decca/ Velour) - Brendan James - a New York-based and New Hampshire-bred singer/songwriter with an undeniable gift for melody - is set to release his first full-length album, 'The Day is Brave,' a moving and poetic eleven-song reflection on the loves and losses that define a young man as he makes sense of it all. The album will be co-released on May 13th by Decca Label Group and the Velour Music Group - the New York based independent label responsible for breaking Sonya Kitchell and Kaki King.
The largely autobiographical songs on 'The Day Is Brave' range from upbeat love songs to poignant and contemplative ballads, all accompanied by James' deft touch on the piano. James will begin a string of tour dates starting January 26th. He will also make an appearance at this year's South By Southwest Music Festival in Austin, Texas.

The album takes its name from a lyric in the moody ballad "Begin". In this meditation, James encourages the listener to appreciate the moment: "Be not afraid, for the day is brave/ Remember what has happened in our past/ So much is happening right now." And for James, this lyric has proven prophetic. His song "Hero's Song" will be featured on Sire Records' "Body of War" soundtrack (March 2008), which also includes tracks by the likes of Eddie Vedder and Neil Young. "The Sun Will Rise," from Brendan's self-released EP, was recently featured on ABC's hit television series Private Practice, and iTunes recently tapped James as one of 2008's "Artists To Watch."

The album was produced by Mikal Blue (Jason Reeves, Colbie Caillat).
