The Dollyrots 'Because I'm Awesome' Out Now on Blackheart Records

NEW YORK (Top40 Charts/ Blackheart Records) - Power punk trio The Dollyrots rip through sassy, high-energy, bubblegum anthems on their sophomore album 'Because I'm Awesome,' out now on Joan Jett's Blackheart Records. The band was founded by long-time friends Kelly Ogden (vocals, bass) and Lucas Cabezas in Florida in early 2000. After relocating to LA and adding drummer Chris Black, the band spent the summer of 2006 on the Vans Warped Tour. Joan Jett, a featured performer on the tour, was impressed with The Dollyrots and signed them to Blackheart Records.

The title track on their album, "Because I'm Awesome," was voted "The Coolest Song of 2007" on Little Steven's Underground Garage, beating out rock superstars like The White Stripes, Bruce Springsteen and Mick Jagger. Also included on the album is "Brand New Key," a fiery cover of the popular '70s tune by Melanie.

The Dollyrots have been featured playing "Because I'm Awesome" in a Kohl's national TV advertisement and on ABC Family's "The Greek". The song has also been featured on ABC's "Ugly Betty" and CW's "Reaper." Other fun facts: Kelly was recently named one of Blender's "Hottest Women in Rock." The Dollyrots are also animal-lovers and have a pet rat named Sniffy, who has interviewed the band for PETA.com.
