Chicago, IL. (Top40 Charts/ Shoeshine Boy Productions) - On Saturday, April 26, 2008, Shoeshine Boy Productions celebrates its eighth year on the music scene in
Chicago at
Double Door (1572 N Milwaukee, Chicago). The show will feature the music of
Chicago rockers Soulfix, Acoustic rockers
Weber Band, Rock blues man Chris Buherle and band, and newcomers, Boho Paisley.
Shoeshine Boy Productions ("SBP") was founded by attorney Paul Farahvar as a "one stop shop" for Chicago's up and coming musical artists. Serving as an artist development and management service, SBP has grown from helping a few bands back in 2000 to managing, representing, booking, and/or providing legal service to thousands of artists and bands from across the nation (and the world).
The bands on this years' party bill demonstrates Shoeshine Boy's eccletic representation. Two years of intense writing and recording preceded the completion of Soulfix's latest album "Seep," which was released at Double Door in December, 2007. The result is an aggressive record that is lyrically introspective and passionately melodic in sound. Songs such as "More" and the title track "Seep" showcase the band's heavier rock influences, while the dramatic "Meaning of Life" embraces a blues-like trance that mesmerizes its listener.
No stranger to the Chicago music scene, Southside frontman Al Weber has been showcasing his singer/songwriting talent throughout Chicago for the past five years. Finally forming a band in March 2005, creatively named "Weber Band", his music immmediately took on a different direction from the traditional coffee house singer/songwriter sound. His grooves moved hypnoticially, preventing people from remaining seated. Brother Andy Weber's powerful keyboard hooks and the booming rhythm section of Greg Skelly (drums) and Jay Marino (bass) knocked over the coffee cups that strayed the coffeehouses, forcing the music into larger venues like Park West, Metro, Schubas, Double Door, and Martyrs.
Chicago transient, Chris Buehrle joins the bill for the second year in a row, this time with his newly formed band. Chris, who has been playing guitar since the age of 13, showcases his influences ranging from Bruce Springsteen to Van Morrison to The Clash. Clearly, Chris's style has become tough to label.
Newcomers Boho Paisley rounds out the evening with their pop sensible jams.
Doors open at 9 PM to the public. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door (if available) through ticketmaster. This show is 21 and over.
