Austin, TX. (Top40 Charts/ Art Attack Promotions) - Asbury Park, NJ based Latin rockers deSoL have launched their current US tour, stabbing westward through Texas, Colorado, Nevada, and New Mexico before turning back east to New York. Touring in support of their new single, "On My Way," the group is finishing up the filming on a video for the song as they travel, combining the sights and sounds of numerous cities into a colorful conglomeration.
In their eight years together, deSoL has experienced extensive success on stage and in the studio. Their resume includes performances alongside greats such as R.E.M., Los Lonely Boys, Widespread Panic, and Particle; and they have rocked stages at Austin City Limits Festival, Bonaroo, and Lollapalooza. The band has also been awarded critical acclaim in the charts, as their first single OKarma,O released in 2005, climbed into the Top 5 on Triple A Radio.
While many bands are unable to retain their relevance over an extended period of time, deSoL has proven to be the exception to the rule. A recent showcase at South By Southwest 2008 was a huge success, with a packed house eagerly hanging on every note. Performing in the town where they recorded their Live at Antone"s EP, deSoL thrilled the audience with their Latin-infused style of pop rock. The appearance in Austin also gave deSoL the opportunity to serenade the heart of the Music Festival, as they filmed their music video along historic 6th Street, sharing the joy of their sound with all onlookers and pedestrians. Even with the added burden of the road, the group plans to have the self-produced video online before the tour wraps.
Perhaps all this energy is the result of adding some new blood to the mix in the form of 21-year-old drummer Chris Stone. Despite his age, Stone has already accrued the experience of a far more seasoned musician, training extensively under the watchful eye of family-friend Max Weinberg (The E-Street Band, Late Night With Conan O"Brien). The son of a professional drummer, Stone brings a new burst to deSoL and takes the band to a whole new level.
The jolly Winnebago is cruising, the band is playing, the guys are singing, and the camera is rolling. With the single primed to launch and the video due out soon thereafter, deSoL will be spreading tunes and love at each venue as they sail though the summer.
