NORTHRIDGE, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Pharmavite) - American Idol breakout star and Billboard chart-topper Kimberley Locke will perform a concert on May 15, 2008 in honor of National Women's Health Week.
The exclusive event is sponsored by Nature Made Liquid Softgels, a new line of liquid softgels formulated for easy absorption and easy to swallow, in support of the Society for Women's Health Research, a national non-profit organization whose mission is to improve the health of all women through research, education and advocacy.

This special one-hour event will take place at 2 p.m. at Nokia Theatre Times Square in New York City. Nearly 2,000 fans will be invited to commemorate National Women's Health Week with Locke and show their support for women's health awareness.

"I'm honored to partner with Nature Made in their support of the Society for Women's Health Research to inspire women across America to take control of their health," said singer Kimberley Locke. "As a woman who has triumphed over the challenges we all face in maintaining a healthy lifestyle, I encourage women to make a promise to invest in their own personal well-being." Locke famously shed 40 pounds by revamping her diet and participating in the VH1 series, "Celebrity Fit Club" to chronicle her weight loss journey and inspire others.

"As a company that understands the unique health needs of women with targeted solutions such as Liquid Softgels Multi for Her, Nature Made vitamins is thrilled to partner with Kimberley Locke and offer the public an afternoon of music in an effort to raise awareness of women's health issues," said Richard Yoder, Marketing Director, Nature Made Vitamins. "We are also proud to support the Society for Women's Health Research in their mission to improve the health of all women."

Critical differences exist between men and women when it comes to health and prevention; but many women remain unaware that their bodies have specific nutritional needs, can react differently to medications, and can be more vulnerable to certain diseases. For example, according to the Society for Women's Health Research, women comprise 80 percent of the population suffering from osteoporosis, and are more likely than men to have a second heart attack within a year of the first one.

"Research shows that sex matters. As such, we encourage women to be pro-active advocates for their own health," said Phyllis Greenberger, MSW, President and CEO, the Society for Women's Health Research. "National Women's Health Week is a great time to celebrate progress in women's health and educate women about the steps they can take to improve their health."

Coordinated by the U.S. Department of Health and the Office on Women's Health, the 9th annual National Women's Health Week, May 11-17, encourages women to take simple steps for a longer, healthier and happier life.

Kimberley Locke first gained national attention when she became the second runner-up (and top female contestant) on season two of "American Idol" (with Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken). She has since released three albums on Curb Records including the current, "Based on a True Story." She has scored seven top 10 Billboard AC hits (including 3 No 1's) and two No 1 Billboard Dance hits. Her singles include "8th World Wonder," "I Could," "Change," "Band of Gold," and "Fall." A former plus sized model for Lane Bryant, Locke has recently shed 40 pounds through her endorsement deal with Jenny Craig and her participation in the VH1 series, "Celebrity Fit Club 5." Locke resides in Westchester, NY near the restaurant she co-owns, Croton Creek in Croton Falls.
