RICHMOND, Va. (D'Angelo Fans Website) - R&B singer DAngelo - real name Michael Eugene Archer - was arrested on Monday (Nov. 18) on misdemeanor charges of assault and aggressive driving, among other charges, after a confrontation with police in Richmond, Va., went awry, according to a spokesperson for the Chesterfield County Police Department.

When police arrived at the singer's home on Monday to serve arrest warrants stemming from the Sunday incident, D'Angelo allegedly resisted arrest and was subdued with pepper spray. The singer was arrested and charged with assault, aggressive driving, curse and abuse, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest -- all misdemeanors.

D'Angelo was released on his own recognizance and is due in Chesterfield General Court on Jan. 15 to face the charges.
