Nashville, TN. (Top40 Charts/ Universal Records South) - Jennifer Hanson's new Universal Records South release, Thankful, continues to receive praise from critics, particularly her writing and musicianship. Hanson, who co-wrote all of the material on Thankful, got particularly high marks from Country Weekly, whose critic Chris Neal praised her "smart, sophisticated songwriting" and rated the CD with three and a half out of four stars.
Likewise the Norfolk News proclaimed Hanson's CD "the most refreshing sound heard of any album to date this year." The critic went on to say, "while much of the new music out of Nashville these days smells musty, molded out of the same production and lyrical format for the past few years, Jennifer Hanson offers a refreshing breath of strong writing, charismatic vocals and organic-flavored arrangements."
The Albuquerque Journal also tagged the release with a three and a half out of four star review, noting "the singer, songwriter and acoustic guitar slinger journals her trials and tribulations on the more introspective and personal sophomore album."
As a songwriter, Hanson scored a pair of big hits last year: the multi week No 1 "Leave the Pieces," recorded by the Wreckers, and "A Different World," a top 5 hit for Bucky Covington.
"Writing songs is definitely a passion for me, but getting to record them and send them out there for people to hear, and hopefully relate to, is just as important," Hanson said. "Recording this CD with my co-producer Nick Brophy was a great experience, and having had the opportunity to perform these songs live and get feedback from music lovers has been really satisfying. Music is so universal - it connects us in a way that few things can."
