NEW YORK (Rolling Stones Official Website) - The Rolling Stones have announced the first dates for their 2003 tour of the U.K. Fans shouldn't start lining up yet, though--the announced shows won't take place until August, towards the end of a summer tour of Europe. The Stones have announced only three London-area dates, which--like engagements in Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, New York City, and Los Angeles--will take place at differently sized venues, including Twickenham Rugby Ground on August 23, London's Astoria theater on August 27, and Wembley Arena on August 27. As in the U.S. cities, the Stones plan to play markedly different shows at each venue. Ticket sales for the shows - the Stones' first U.K. dates since 1999 - will be announced on Friday (December 6). Next year the Stones are also planning to go to places they've never been before, including China and India, and guitarist Ron Wood said that the group is so happy with the way things are going that it's in no hurry to come off the road: "This tour, we have that new spice of the 'raising the bar' element, which we're all really excited about. And I think from everyone's awareness and focus, there's no reason why we can't keep on rocking, you know?" The group resumes its Licks tour on January 8 in Montreal.
