NEW YORK (Allhiphop) - Like Eminem and Usher before him, Nas is pushing up the release date of his latest album, "God's Son," from Tuesday December 17th to Friday December 13th, to avoid further bootlegging of the album, the rapper's label said Wednesday. The release, which will be Nas' 7th, has already surfaced in various incarnations on the street and the net. By switching the release date to a Friday, Nas is not only preventing a further drop in the album's sales, but he's also breaking with the music industry tradition of Tuesday release dates. The rapper has said that it is important for him that his fans hear his album the way he intended.
"When you buy a bootleg or pirate a download off the Net, you don't get the real thing," Nas says in an interview with allhiphop.com. "The sound sucks, the sequencing is wrong, you're probably missing some tracks and you don't even get the artwork and CD bonuses."
