Dave Matthews To Join Neil Young, John Mellencamp At Farm Aid

NY (Reuters) - Dave Matthews will make his fourth Farm Aid appearance next month, joining co-founders John Mellencamp, Neil Young and Willie Nelson in Indiana on September 29. "The family farm is a national treasure, and it is endangered," Matthews said in a statement. "While I am honored to be a part of Farm Aid, I do hope that the time will come when America's family farms are allowed to survive and thrive on their own, and that our efforts will no longer be necessary."

Mellencamp, Young and Nelson began Farm Aid in 1985, and in the past 16 years the organization has granted almost $16 million to farm organizations, churches and service agencies in 44 states. This year's concert will be Farm Aid's 14th. Concerts were not held in 1988, '89 or '91.
The show will be at the Verizon Wireless Music Center in Noblesville, Indiana, near Indianapolis. Tickets go on sale Saturday, August 11.

Farm Aid was held in Bristow, Virginia, last year, and featured Alan Jackson, Barenaked Ladies, Sawyer Brown, Arlo Guthrie, Travis Tritt and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.
