IRVINE, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Orange County Great Park) - Legendary American folk singer Arlo Guthrie is set to perform at the Orange County Great Park on Saturday August 30th at 8:00 p.m. as part of the Great Park Night Flight Concert Series.
Attendance and parking are free to the public.

Arlo is best known for his epic musical monologue Alice's Restaurant. Three generations of Guthrie's will perform at the Great Park, Arlo, his son Abe, and grandson Krishna. They will highlight the performance with a salute to Arlo's father, Woody Guthrie, by singing the long time favorite "This Land Is Your Land".

In 2006 Arlo, Abe and Krishna staged the "Boy's Night Out" tour across Europe, and now this tour comes to America for nine shows only. The Orange County Great Park is the only California performance.

Over the past twenty years, Arlo's son Abe has performed keyboard accompaniment and powerful supporting vocals along with his dad. It was rare to see an Arlo show without Abe at his side. Arlo, who has just completed a year-long Solo Reunion Tour, said, "Abe is just a great musician. I can't wait to get back to playing together." Krishna Guthrie, at only seventeen, is already an accomplished musician playing drums and guitar. He got his first drum set at two; by three he had already made his first appearance with his father and grandfather on stage. Since then, he has occasionally joined the family on stage playing drums.

Arlo Guthrie was born with a guitar in one hand and a harmonica in the other in Coney Island, Brooklyn, New York in 1947. He is the eldest son of America's most beloved singer/writer/philosopher, Woody Guthrie, and Marjorie Mazia Guthrie. His mother was a professional dancer with the Martha Graham Company and founder of The Committee to Combat Huntington's Disease.

Arlo gave his first public performance at age 13 and quickly became involved in the music that was shaping the world during the 1960s. Arlo practically lived in the most famous venues of the "Folk Boom" era. In New York City he hung out at Gerdes Folk City, The Gaslight and The Bitter End. In Boston it was Club 47 and in Philadelphia he made places like The 2nd Fret and The Main Point his home.

Arlo Guthrie's career exploded in 1967 with the release of his album, Alice's Restaurant, whose title song premiered at the Newport Folk Festival and helped foster a new commitment to social consciousness and activism among the '60s generation. Arlo went on to star in the 1969 Hollywood film version of Alice's Restaurant, directed by Arthur Penn.

Though Arlo's definitive rendition of Steve Goodman's "City of New Orleans" may have been his only "hit" song in the traditional sense, he has never the less achieved international stature. The 18 minute "Alice's Restaurant," while too long for radio airplay, has become an American classic.

Over the last four decades Arlo has toured throughout North America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia winning a broad and dedicated following. In addition to being an accomplished musician - playing the piano, six and twelve-string guitar, harmonica and a dozen other instruments - Arlo is a natural-born storyteller whose hilarious tales and anecdotes are woven seamlessly into his performances.

The Orange County Great Park, which is almost twice the size of New York City's Central Park, will be a major metropolitan park and the focal point of the redevelopment of the 4,700-acre former Marine Corps Air Station at El Toro. The Great Park will include extensive natural areas and open space in addition to recreational and cultural uses.
