Music Group's leading merchandising division, has entered into agreement to manufacture and distribute merchandise in support of Tina Turner's upcoming and highly anticipated world tour. The announcement was made today by Tom Donnell, Vice President, A&R, Bravado.
Turner's most recent tour, Twenty Four Seven, took place in 2000 and was the highest grossing of the year and the fifth biggest grossing tour in US history. She makes her long-awaited return to the stage this fall, touring throughout North America and Europe, kicking off in Kansas City on October 1. The performances will feature greatest hits culled from her celebrated career. Turner will spend the latter part of 2008 travelling across the US and Canada, venture over to Europe in early 2009 and wrap up with dates in Manchester, England next April.
"It speaks to Tina's continued appeal that she has enjoyed such an illustrious career spanning so many years," commented Donnell. "We are honored that she's chosen to partner with Bravado to support this exciting tour and to bring her signature sense of style to fans everywhere."
An eight-time Grammy Award Winner, Tina Turner is considered one of the most successful female artists of all time, with record sales exceeding 180 million worldwide. She has sold more concert tickets than any other solo performer in history. To date, Turner has 22 US Billboard top 40 singles and 31 US top 40 R&B singles. In the rest of the world, Turner has also earned a multitude of honors including: 33 top 40 hits in the UK, 28 top 40 hits in the Netherlands, 27 German top 40 hits, 26 top 40 hits in Poland, 24 top 40 hits in Ireland, 21 top 40 hits in Austria, 20 Canadian top 40 hits including three No 1's, 14 top 40 hits in Australia, France, and Italy, nine top 10 hits in Spain including three No 1s and seven top 10 hits in Norway. In Switzerland all of her solo singles have been top 30 hits. All of her albums since Private Dancer to date have been top 10 hits in the UK, Germany, Canada, Norway, Austria, Switzerland, and numerous other countries.
