Elvin Bishop Records New Album By Land And By Sea

New York, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - Blues guitar great Elvin Bishop hit the road to complete his new album, fittingly titled 'The Blues Rolls On' (Sept 23, Delta Groove). Though much of the album was recorded at his home studio in San Francisco, travel was necessary to accommodate Bishop's slew of special guests, who include some of the finest blues musicians around.

"I had to catch these guys where I could," says Bishop, who traveled to Las Vegas to lay down a stylish rendition of "Keep A Dollar In Your Pocket" with old friend B.B. King. "Yonder's Wall," a song Bishop first played with the legendary Paul Butterfield Blues Band, was recorded with Ronnie Baker Brooks and the Tommy Castro Band in a searing live performance aboard a Rhythm & Blues Cruise off the Pacific Coast of Mexico.
In Clarksdale, Mississippi, Bishop recorded a slow-burning version of Junior Wells' "Come On In This House" with Homemade Jamz, an on-the-rise family band. George Thorogood, Derek Trucks, and Warren Haynes turn up on other tracks. Wherever the blues called, Bishop went.

Engineer Steve Savage (Robert Cray, Otis Rush), who has several GRAMMY-nominated albums to his credit, helmed the project, ensuring that the record has a cohesive feel despite its remarkably varied nature.
First, he zeroed in on the home studio. Savage recalls, "The funky studio is a free-standing studio space that Elvin built in the 70s. The only cosmetics are bunch of great old gig posters of blues legends and Elvin, but it sounds great. We bought a Pro Tools 003, a Mac computer, and a variety of microphone preamps, converters and plug-ins. We also bought Tannoy ellipse studio monitors and some key microphones, including a Neumann TLM103 vocal mic to augment the vintage microphones he had."
