Nashville, TN. (Top40 Charts/ Lilly Ray Records) -
Versatile singer/songwriter Becky Schlegel returns to the International Bluegrass
Music Association's Songwriter Showcase for a performance on Tuesday,
September 30 at 4 p.m. The date marks Schlegel's third appearance at the coveted event, where she sang in both 2003 and 2005. This year, she reunites with respected writers Louisa Branscomb and Connie Leigh, who shared the stage with her in '05. Rounding out the bill for the ASCAP-sponsored show are Kathy Chiavola; JD Crockett,
Dennis Duff; Keith Harden & Rick Alan Carpenter;
Erika Chambers, Emma & Bryan McDowell, Kent Riggs and Michael VanBrackle. Schlegel will also participate in her first Song Circle (Sept. 30, 6:30 p.m.), one of the special events planned for WORLD OF BLUEGRASS WEEK attendees.
Becky heads to Nashville following a summer that's been jam-packed with performances at festivals, fairs and venues throughout the upper Midwest and beyond. Her latest (and first nationally-released) CD, FOR ALL THE WORLD TO SEE, has generated glowing reviews and a well-received first single in "Bound For Tennessee." Co-produced by Becky and banjoist/guitarist Brian Fesler, the disc has been called, "an outstanding release;" "a tip-top collection," and "a fresh and brilliant recording." Current and recent media coverage includes Performing Songwriter, Bluegrass Unlimited, Country Weekly, Today's Country, Roughstock and Minnesota Star Tribune.
"The IBMA Business conference is an amazing week of creative inspiration," says Schlegel. "I've met so many incredible artists and heard so much great music over the years, and it's an honor to have been invited back this year." Among the folks that Becky has met are Tom T. Hall (who heard her song "No Angel" in 2005 and immediately asked for a copy) and Louisa Branscomb, a writer with cuts on two Grammy-winning CDs who has invited Schlegel to participate in the Bluegrass Songwriter Association.
