NEW YORK (Top40 Charts/ RCA Records) - American Idol winner David Cook will release his debut album on November 18th, 2008 (19 Recordings / RCA Records). The first single, "Light On," produced by Grammy winning producer Rob Cavallo (Green Day, Kid Rock) is released to radio this week and will be made available on iTunes on 9/30.

"Light On" will premiere exclusively on AOL Music on Wednesday, September 24, on AOL's pop culture news site, PopEater.com. Earlier this year, Cook had the biggest single premiere of the year on PopEater.com with "The Time of My Life" garnering more than one million streams in 24 hours.

"Light On" was co-written by one of rock music's most influential innovators, Chris Cornell, lead singer and songwriter for Soundgarden and Audioslave, and acclaimed producer / songwriter Brian Howes, who has worked with superstar rock bands such as Hinder and Puddle of Mudd.

Cook has been busy in the studio with Cavallo, co-writing many of the upcoming album's tracks alongside some of music's hottest rock songwriters.

Last week marked the launch of DavidCookOfficial.com, Cook's official social networking site where fans can interact with David, his music and each other. Fans can create their own profiles, make friends and contribute their own blogs, photos, videos and connect with other fans in their towns by various search functionalities. After only five days, it was already the No 1 artist site within the entire SonyBMG community.

Earlier this summer Cook set the record for the most new entries by an artist in the 50-year history of the Hot 100, with 11 songs entering the chart dated June 7, 2008. That broke the record of six new entries in one week. Cook's 11 songs were led by "The Time of My Life," which debuted at No. 3, making it the highest new entry of 2008. "The Time of My Life" debuted at No 1 on two other charts, the Hot Digital Songs and the Hot Digital Tracks.
25 year old David Cook hails from Blue Springs, Missouri.
