Natalie Maines joins Julia Roberts on movie set

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Dixie Chick Fans Website) - Dixie Chick Natalie Maines will have a cameo role in the upcoming independent film, Grand Champion, which stars Julia Roberts and Bruce Willis. On the set, Maines got pretty close to Roberts while filming the project in Texas.

"Julia came in my trailer and wrote lines and she's very funny," Maines told Hollywood columnist Marilyn Beck. "I play a West Texas DJ with big hair and blue eye shadow. She [Roberts] was such a supporter, she was like my wardrobe girl and my stage mom. Between takes she'd come over and help me take my jacket off, sit with me and give me sips of wine. She knew I was just shaking with nerves. Thank God she was there, or I'd never have made it."

Grand Champion was directed by rodeo legend and Maines's friend Barry Tubb and also features George Strait and Charlie Robison.
The movie premiered in selected cities last year.
