BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (Hollywood Foreign Press Association) - The Hollywood Award Season got its traditional start Monday with the announcement of the Golden Globe award nominations. "Adaptation" and fellow movie adaptations "Chicago" and "The Hours" were adapted again Thursday - into leading Golden Globe contenders.

"Chicago," based on the Broadway musical first directed and choreographed by Bob Fosse in 1975, received a leading eight nominations, followed by the film version of Michael Cunningham's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, "The Hours," with seven.

The awards, selected by the roughly 90 members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, will be awarded Jan. 19 during a live telecast on NBC.
