New York, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Basic NYC) - New York in the holidays is undoubtedly the most wonderful time of the year. A frenzied period of parades, shopping, parties and traditions that stretches from November to the New Year, the energy, excitement and merriment is everywhere in the Big Apple.
That goes for the dancefloors as well, and Basic NYC is presenting a fearsome lineup of parties to coincide with this season of celebrations. Some of the world's biggest DJs will be taking to the Sullivan Room decks for four big nights, offering up a bounty of joyful beats for late-night revelry.
It all kicks off on November 15th when San Francisco's notorious Dirtybird Justin Martin returns to the Sullivan Room. It's been a while since Justin has played for Basic NYC, and since that time his reputation as one of today's most ground-breaking artists has grown. He'll be touring in support of his brand-new "Chaos Restored 2" mix CD on Ben Watt's fabled Buzzin'fly imprint, a mix that shows off both Justin's body-moving DJ skills and impeccable production chops. Featured tracks include Justin's own remix of Radiohead's "Nude", and his future original anthem "My Angelic Demons." Justin's irresistibly hypnotic grooves, crushing sub-bass speaker shakers and varied track selection have made him one of America's brightest new stars, and we're excited to welcome him back to New York.
With turkey day just around the corner, the dancefloor will be giving thanks for the Basic NYC debut of Green Velvet on Saturday November 22nd. A true icon of the underground, Velvet pulls no punches behind the decks, battering crowds with a relentless mix of his jacked-up Chicago trax, percussive techno and Italo-flavored oddities. And of course it wouldn't be a Green Velvet set without his own live renditions of some of his classics, including "Flash", "La La Land" and "Shake and Pop." The windy city veteran - also known for his housier alter-ego Cajmere - has been cranking out tracks on his groundbreaking labels Relief and Cajual for over 15 years now, and continues to be an electric and sought-after live performer.
One of Basic NYC's favorite DJs returns on Saturday December 6th when Mark Farina hits New York for his Mushroom Jazz 6 CD tour, released on OM Records. Showcasing the flipside to his house grooves, Mark's Mushroom Jazz sets feature dubby downtempo, hip-hop and jazz, recalling the glory days of the early 90s acid jazz and trip-hop scenes. For this party, he'll be dropping both a house set and a mushroom jazz set, showing off some of the many different styles that he's capable of flipping. Farina's past Sullivan Room sets have been some of our most memorable nights to date, and this will undoubtedly be another special night with San Francisco's maestro.
This brings us to the biggest stocking stuffer of them all: the long-awaited New York return of the SAW Recordings boss and DefMix veteran Satoshi Tomiie. Truly one of the world's most celebrated DJs, Satoshi brings an impeccable selection of techno, house and big-room tracks for his Basic NYC debut on Saturday December 20th.. With gigs taking him around the world each and every weekend, and fresh off his summer-long residency at Pacha, Ibiza - this is a very rare New York appearance for Satoshi - and all the more special considering it will be taking place on an intimate dancefloor like Sullivan Room. Celebrating the release of his new double CD "Renaissance: The Masters series", Satoshi will certainly be schooling the dancefloor on the sound that has made him a global pacesetter of beats.
