New York, NY. (Top 40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - Famed conductor Carlo Ponti, the eldest son of timeless screen legend Sophia Loren and filmmaker Carlo Ponti Sr., releases his debut recording with the world-renowned Russian National Orchestra (RNO), December 2nd on PentaTone Classics.

In his role as Music Director and Principal Conductor of the San Bernardino Symphony Orchestra in the United States, Ponti has been credited with broadening the audience for classical music. His commitment to innovative programming that is both challenging and accessible has successfully attracted an expanded audience, and Ponti works continuously to engage young people in the orchestra's activities overall.

'It is of vital importance for me to expose the younger generation to symphonic music and involve them in what we do,' says Maestro Ponti of his work at the San Bernardino Symphony. 'This can range from attending concert rehearsals and pre-concert lectures to ushering at performances, always depending on their interests and availability. We also have an annual family performance as an integral part of our subscription season, which few orchestras do. 'I was fortunate to grow up with classical music in my life. My parents were both very musical and Brahms, Mozart and Beethoven could always be heard at our house.'

Ponti also has an essential listening recommendation for youth and others who have not yet been exposed to classical music: Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. He recently explained to Flavorpill, 'I've done a lot of public performances of this work and found that the entire audience is equally touched by this masterpiece, regardless of their musical training or knowledge. There is an organic flow to Beethoven's final symphony which touches all listeners.'
