New York, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Sullivan Room) - In a dance music culture where similarity tends to be the norm, few artists are as unique and iconoclastic as Chicago's infamous GREEN VELVET. Truly one of the house and techno worlds most trailblazing hitmakers, Velvet returns to the Sullivan Room on Saturday, November 22nd. This will be his Basic NYC debut, and promises to be a severe night of relentless techno, electro and plenty of the unpredictable and wild tricks Velvet has up his sleeve. Some might say techno music tends to be 'faceless', but Green Velvet is all about personality. The demented alter ego of Curtis Jones - himself the renowned house music artist Cajmere - Velvet has been twisting heads and moving bodies on dancefloors around the world for well over 10 years. His unique skill is in combining deadly techno and house tracks with vocals and concepts that make them accessible to the wider dance music audience. The formula has produced hit after hit - from the ominous narrated tour of Club Bad on 'Flash', the track that first broke Velvet's name, to the recent catchy electro ditty 'Shake and Pop.' As a live performer, Velvet is not only a devastating DJ, but he adds his own vocals throughout his set, creating a unique hybrid performance that has made him into one of the world's most in-demand artists. From huge festivals to all the world's top clubs, Velvet is constantly touring to rapt audiences. This will be Velvet's second Sullivan Room night, but the first for Basic NYC and his first Saturday engagement at the venue. Combining the energetic vibe of a Basic NYC night, with Velvet's combustible DJ skills will make for a night to remember on Sullivan Room's intimate dancefloor. Also performing on the night will be Basic NYC regular Ed Zang, and Illich Mujica of the Techtonic Division crew. Basic NYC residents Sleepy & Boo close out the night following Green Velvet.
