BURBANK, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Warner Bros. Records) - Warner Bros. Records recording artist
Eric Hutchinson caps off an incredible year with his hit single 'Rock & Roll' a Top 3 smash at AAA radio while the
David Mullett-lensed video will be the 'Video of the Week' at iTunes beginning December 16th. 'Rock & Roll' was the No 1 most played video at VH1 for four straight weeks and spent four weeks in Gung Ho rotation. It is also being played on MTVu, MuchMoreMusic and Logo's NewNowNext. Hutchinson, a VH1 'You Oughta Know' artist, appeared on 'VH1 Top 20 Video Countdown' this past weekend.
'Rock & Roll' is the lead single from Hutchinson's debut album, Sounds Like This, which is currently in the Top 20 of Billboard's Heatseekers chart. The song, which was featured prominently in the The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 as well as the film's soundtrack and advertising, viral and DVD campaigns, is the No 1 download from the soundtrack - both this week and year-to-date. 'Rock & Roll' was Most Added at Hot AC radio for the past two weeks, and it's the No 2 airplay track in Japan, where Sounds Like This was just released.
Hutchinson will be touring with O.A.R. on their winter 2009 tour, which launches January 15th. He's been on the road non-stop this year - once his headlining tour with Meaghan Smith and Matt Hires wraps up December 14th, he will have logged over 150 dates. (See below for upcoming tour dates.)
He made his network television debut in October on 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno' followed by performances on 'The Bonnie Hunt Show' and 'The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.' Hutchinson was tapped for MSN's 'Ones To Watch' program in October and as an 'Artist to Watch' by Clear Channel's 'NEW!' program for November. He's had two tracks singled out by USA Today's 'Playlist' and garnered a host of accolades from the press: 'undeniably charismatic' (The Washington Post); 'a new pop sensation' (etonline.com); 'playful R&B-tinged rhythms and John Legend-by-way-of Stevie Wonder vocals' (Los Angeles Times); 'refreshingly inventive and uniquely soulful' (popmatters.com); 'exuberant, piano-based tunes glimmering with elements of reggae, gospel and soul' (The Baltimore Sun); 'one of the best stories in music this year' (Lincoln Journal Star).
