LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts/ Federal Distribution) - Legendary and now four-time Grammy nominee Heavy D, (Dwight Myers) has not only found himself with one of the country's hottest new reggae albums, Vibes, but has also received a Grammy Nomination for Best Reggae Album. Vibes, which hails from Heavy's own Stride Ent. Label, distributed by Federal Distribution, a division of Universal Republic Records. Vibes had a chart topping release on iTunes and Billboard in October, and will be released in stores on December 16. This is a monumental comeback moment in the recording career of Heavy D, who has been busy producing music and working on his acting career, but has not released a cd of his own in over a decade. One of rap music's pioneers, Heavy D takes a turn by bringing the listener on a journey to his hometown roots of Jamaica with Vibes, which Vibe Magazine calls, "Beyond Beautiful," and the Los Angeles Times says, "Heavy D is Reggae's New Champion." His video for the single "Long Distance Girlfriend," can be seen at youtube, vh1 and MTV. The single "Long Distance Girlfriend," was USA Today's Pic of the Week last week. Heavy is nominated in the category of Best Reggae Album and shares the category with some of the most notable names in reggae today. Stayed tuned to see who the winner is on the 51st Grammy Awards which will be held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, and airs live on CBS at 8pm ET/PT on Sunday, Feb 8 2009.
