LOS ANGELES, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Live Earth) - Today the 2009 Green Inaugural Ball and Live Earth announce that world-renowned artists - will.i.am., Melissa Etheridge, Maroon 5, John Legend, Michael Franti - are scheduled to perform at the upcoming 2009 Green Inaugural Ball on Monday, January 19, at the Donald W. Reynolds Center for American Art and Portraiture. Executive produced by Live Earth, the intimate evening of featured performances will represent a variety of musical genres from hip-hop to rock. Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore and Van Jones, President of Green For All, and others will speak to the strength and diversity of organizations, corporations, and individuals committed to the new green economy that will advance clean and efficient energy, reduce global warming and protect and restore America's natural heritage.

This network is ready, willing and able to usher in clean energy technologies that will be at the heart of America's economic recovery and that will protect our planet,' said Denise Bode, CEO, American Wind Energy Association, a founding member of the 2009 Green Inaugural Ball Host Committee.
The 2009 Green Inaugural Ball is also committed to being a carbon neutral event. 'We're committed to making this the greenest inaugural ball possible and hope what we accomplish will set a new bar for green events in Washington DC and throughout the country,' said Shelley Cohen, chair of the greening subcommittee.

The 2009 Green Inaugural Ball will strengthen and grow the community that will be working together with the new Administration and new Congress to ensure that the green economy creates shared prosperity for all while protecting the health of the planet.
The sold-out event will be held at the Donald W. Reynolds Center for American Art and Portraiture. Featuring organic, locally-sourced food, and a truly Green Carpet, the 2009 Inaugural Green Ball will be a carbon neutral event.

The Green Inaugural Ball will begin at 7pm on January 19 at the Donald W. Reynolds Center for American Art and Portraiture to celebrate the inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama and Vice President-elect Joseph Biden. * The event will offset 100% of electricity emissions through a partnership with Native Energy.
* The menu will include as much locally-sourced and organic food as possible.
* We will recycle, reuse and compost.
* The event has limited signage; marketing information and invitations were provided electronically.
* We will have a green carpet - 10% consumer content and made with 100% renewable electrical energy. The carpet will be completely recycled after the event.
