NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AMA Official Website) - The Americana Airplay Chart, the Americana
Music Associations radio chart for album airplay, will soon move to a new weekly home in the respected industry trade publication
Radio and Records (R&R), debuting in the March 14th, 2003 issue.
The Americana Airplay chart, developed and managed by the Americana Music Association (AMA), represents the reported album play of terrestrial radio stations, nationally syndicated radio shows, satellite radio and Internet stations who have agreed to submit weekly play counts.
The reporting panel is presently composed of 70 stations, with plans to expand that number to between 80-100 in the coming months.
According to Erica Farber, CEO/Publisher of Radio & Records, "R&R has always felt it important to provide the most up-to-date information for all current based formats to our readers. We are so pleased with our new relationship with the Americana Music Association and look forward to including the weekly Americana chart in the pages of R&R."
"This is an amazing opportunity for Americana which will most certainly continue to raise the profile of our music and our industry. We're thrilled that a leading publication like R&R sees the same potential for our music and industry as we do, and that they're willing to invest their resources in our format," says J.D. May, Executive Director of the Americana Music Association.
The AMA will provide the chart to R&R on a weekly basis and will continue to oversee and manage the chart. R&R's readership of approximately 8,000 subscribers includes radio stations, record companies, Hollywood film/television community, networks, program suppliers, news bureaus, artists, managers, agencies, group owners, advertising executives and related industry professionals.
The Americana Music Association is a professional trade association with more than 800 members. The mission of the AMA is to provide a forum for the advocacy of Americana music, to promote public awareness of this genre, and to support the creative and economic viability of professionals in this field.
