BOSTON, Mass. (NY RnB magazine) -
Cam'ron and the Diplomats associates were involved in a shooting on Interstate 93 in
Boston early Wednesday morning (February 26). The Diplomats are currently on a promotional tour for their forthcoming album, Diplomatic Immunity, which is due out March 25.
According to police reports, several shots were fired at 2003 Toyota Camry with three female passengers on Interstate 93 in Dorchester, Massachusetts, at approximately 2:45 a.m. ET Wednesday. The passengers in the Camry, who were not hurt, alerted authorities that the shots were fired from a tour bus and black Ford Excursion SUV.
According to Massachusetts state police officer David Paine, both the tour bus - which was transporting Cam'ron and the Diplomats - and the Ford Excursion, which were traveling in a caravan, were pulled over in Canton, Massachusetts.
Monique E. Garnett, 46, the driver of the Ford Excursion, was charged with one count of unlawful possession of a firearm - a firearm was found in the central console of the SUV - as well as possession of a class D controlled substance believed to be marijuana. The passenger, Keith Blacknell, 25, of New York, was found in possession of two unlawful firearms on his person and was charged with three counts of unlawful possession of a firearm and one count of possession of a class D controlled substance.
Garnett and Blacknell will both be indicted and tried in Stoughton District Court because they were arrested in Canton.
Two of the 13 people on the tour bus were also arrested. Orlando Young, 32, of the Bronx, was identified as the shooter and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm without a license and three counts of assault with intent to murder. Piri Pantoja, 24, of Richmond, Virginia, was also charged with unlawful possession of a firearm without a license and three counts of assault with intent to murder.
Young and Pantoja will be arraigned and tried in Dorchester District Court because the alleged crime occurred on Interstate 93 in Dorchester.
The investigation is ongoing, and none of the members of the Diplomats - Cam'ron, Juelz Santana, Jim Jones, and Freakey Zekey - were detained by authorities.
