NEW YORK (Top40 Charts/ Hot Jupiter Records) - JANA PERI (www.janaperi.com) will bring her special brand of NYC style power pop and rock 'n' roll to the Jersey Shore with a live performance at The Brighton Bar, Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 9:30 PM, presented by DJ Randy Now (www.randynow.com). The club is located at 121 Brighton Avenue in Long Branch, NJ (phone: 732-229-9676) and admission is $10. PERI will open for NJ rock legends, THE DOUGHBOYS (www.thedoughboysnj.com), who perform at 10:30 PM.

PERI, accompanied by musicians JACOB CALLIS (bass guitar/background vocals) and NED STROH (drums/background vocals), will play some new material, as well as showcase songs from her CD, Catching Flies With Vinegar, which was produced by Red Bank, NJ native, Daniel Rey, best known for his work with seminal NY punk band, The Ramones. The CD features the track, 'Go Ahead,' which was also included on the 2004 International Pop Overthrow - Volume 7 compilation on power pop and melodic rock label, Not Lame.

While PERI and her band never fail to excite audiences with their energetic live shows, Catching Flies With Vinegar continues to garner glowing reviews from the media. Chuck Eddy of The Village Voice included the disc in his 'Eddytor's Dozen' and in a separate review, called PERI 'ballsy' and her songs 'effervescent.'
NJ's Asbury Park Press said, 'The tracks have a Beatleseque quality, but they also pack a punch reminiscent of Chrissie Hynde's finest moments with the Pretenders' and described PERI as having 'a rock star's aura, something that's on the edge of extinction." Catching Flies With Vinegar is the follow-up to PERI's critically acclaimed, self-titled debut EP, which contained 'Dating Sucks' (the song that ROCKRGRL Magazine chose for the lead track on its Discoveries 2004 compilation) and also 'The La La Song' (a song inspired by her travels in England).
The singer/songwriter/guitarist shot a music video for the song while on a short solo electric tour of the UK in 2004. The highlight of the tour was a performance at Liverpool's legendary Cavern Club that features prominently in the video. PERI went back to the UK for a more extensive tour with her band in 2005 to promote the release of Catching Flies With Vinegar and expects to return in 2010, armed with new songs.

In addition to a busy schedule with her own band, PERI can occasionally be seen performing at Joe's Pub at The Public Theater with keyboardist, Joe McGinty's NYC tribute band, Loser's Lounge (www.loserslounge.com).
PERI appears on two Loser's Lounge CDs: an ABBA tribute (singing 'Waterloo' in a duet with singer/songwriter Patti Rothberg) and a tribute to The Kinks (singing 'I'm Not Like Everybody Else'). With the superb Loser's Lounge musicians backing her, PERI has the opportunity to do things she wouldn't necessarily get to do otherwise (i.e. stretching her acting muscles, wearing silly costumes and incorporating props), all in great reverence to whatever pop culture phenomenon is being feted that evening.
PERI has done everything from dressing up as Michael Jackson and performing 'Beat It' to singing 'Wild, Wild Life' to a packed house in a Talking Heads tribute at famed punk club, CBGB's, just days before it closed in 2006. Her colorful interpretation of the song landed her in a feature on the club that aired repeatedly on NYC cable TV news channel, NY1.

THE DOUGHBOYS originally formed in the 1960s and have since reunited, astounding audiences around the country. Their song 'Black Sheep' from the CD Is It Now was recently voted the No 2 Coolest Song In The World on Little Steven Van Zandt's Underground Garage program on Sirius Satellite Radio.
