NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Dolly Parton Fans Website) - Dolly Parton will be honored Tuesday night (March 11) for her contributions to the cultural life of Tennessee. Gov. Phil Bredesen and wife Andrea Conte will present Parton with a lifetime achievement award during the Governor's Awards in the Arts presentation at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium. "Dolly is an American icon and a Tennessee treasure," said Tennessee Arts Commission executive director Rich Boyd. "She's being honored not only for her music but for her humanitarian efforts on behalf of the people of East Tennessee." The Peasall Sisters, featured on the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack, will perform during the awards ceremony.
