LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts/ SPR Records) - The creator of the ground breaking 2007 debut album Soul Science has written so many songs for his second outing that he is taking time out to decide what is to be done. Originally Elavi had spoken to his company about recording a double album after the success of his first album. However, the record company felt that he would be best to hold back some songs for a third album because of the credit crunch. They felt less people were buying music so the cost of a double album would not put loyal fans off but could make newer fans reluctant to fork out the extra cost and opt for downloading instead. Andre Cheon a spokesman at SPR said 'as you know Elavi is part owner of SPR and we would not have the success we have had if it were not for the underground success of Soul Science. We are totally behind Elavi but we want to make sure we don't let success go to our heads; we must look at the present climate and ride the wave of this economic down turn. The songs that have to be shelved will always be there and the one thing we can all be sure of is they were not held back because of quality but because of the current economic climate.' We look at Elavi as one of those artists with longevity he will be here in many years to come and so will his music, stock piling music hasn't done the likes of prince any harm so we will do the same.
