All you hipsters and music geeks can start wetting your pants now, cuz this is going to be one for the ages. According to the L.A. Times, critical darlings Radiohead and Sigur Ros will be meeting soon to collaborate on the score for a piece by the world renowned Merce Cunningham Dance Company. The work is set to be premiered in New York at the Brooklyn Academy Of Music this October. No word has been released yet on what exactly the two bands will come up with, but seeing as how both artists often have a very theatrical feel to their music, it will be interesting to see what happens when they combine their talents. It would be a pretty safe bet that its not going to be an upbeat dance number, though. The collaboration between the two came at the request of the 83-year-old Cunningham, who has been working in choreography for almost 60 years and is one of the most respected and influential figures in the world of modern dance. Although Sigur Ros and Radiohead have not written material collectively before, the bands have toured together in the past.
In other Sigur Ros news, it has been announced that a DVD collection of the group's three music videos will be released on April 21, along with a CD single for "Untitled #1" (unofficial title Vaka) off last year's ( ) album. For those that can't wait for the DVD, the video for "Untitled #1," which was directed by Canadian Floria Sigismondi can be seen on MCA's website. The Icelandic quartet is currently in the midst of an American tour and will embark on a short Japanese trek after its completion.
