LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts/ New State Music) - Levi's, KFC, Guinness and Boots are some of the renowned brands that have been part of television and music history, picking up unknown or rare records and using them as the musical backdrop to some stunningly filmed commercials. In the fine tradition of classic old treasures being rediscovered and given a new lease of life with remixes and a massive TV ad campaign, Northern Soul gem 'Come On Train' has been remixed by Ian Parton from The Go! Team after being selected for the next 'Life Flows Better With Visa' Ad campaign. Released in 1974 by the California based NUVJ label, the original US track won soul fans on both sides of the Atlantic almost from day one, with a previously unavailable instrumental of the track on a b-side now commanding around ?30 - ?100 in mint condition. The advert features Bill 'CrutchMaster' Shannon, a dancer and performer who seems to glide across a city on crutches. Not using any wheelie shoes, special stunts or effects, Shannon's self-taught movements and fluid choreography make it the perfect embodiment of VISA's flow campaign. Born with a bilateral hip deformity that affects 1 in 1200 children, Bill suffers severe pain and stiffness, sometimes making it difficult for him to support his own body weight. He says, 'as a kid I wouldn't have called it dancing,' but it was then that he began to develop what is now known as the Shannon technique in order to stop the unwanted stares. Don Thomas 'Come On Train' is released on New State Music, and is available exclusively at iTunes now. The 'Life Flows Better With Visa' advert launched Sunday 1st March and is showing across all European territories for the next 12 months.
