NEW YORK (Top40 Charts/ ASCAP) - The 10th annual ASCAP Concert Music Awards will take place on Thursday, May 21, 2009 at The Times Center in New York City. ASCAP member, radio host and performer Peter Schickele will host the invitation-only event, which will recognize the achievements of ASCAP's 2009 Concert Music Honorees who represent the diverse aesthetic spectrum of the concert music world.

Among the evening's presenters will be Derek Bermel, Steven Burke, John Corigliano, Daniel Felsenfeld, Charles Fussell, Michael Gordon, James M. Kendrick, Stephen Paulus, Peter Schickele, Suzanne Vega, and ASCAP's John A. LoFrumento, Frances Richard, Cia Toscanini and Michael Spudic.

Those being honored this year are:

Jack Beeson
Composer, Educator, Distinguished �Musical Citizen, in celebration of his 50 years of ASCAP membership, and in gratitude for his dedicated service to the ASCAP Board of Directors, the Symphony & Concert Committee, and to his ASCAP colleagues.

So Percussion - Eric Beach, Josh Quillan, Adam Sliwinski, Jason Treuting
In their 10th Anniversary Season, ASCAP presents the John Cage Award to the composer/members of So Percussion for the artistry and passion with which they perform, commission, record and champion the music of our time.

Francisco J. N??ez
ASCAP presents the Victor Herbert Award to its distinguished member, Composer, Arranger, Conductor, Artistic Director and Founder of the Young People's Chorus of New York City for his commitment to music education, to the enrichment of the choral repertory, and his dedication to musical excellence.

Kristin Lancino, Vice President of G. Schirmer, Inc.
Recipient of the first annual ASCAP Arnold Broido Award for her innovative leadership in the field of Music Publishing.

Recipients of the 2009 ASCAP Foundation Morton Gould Young Composer Awards will also be presented and congratulated.

The ASCAP Foundation program honors the late Pulitzer Prize-winning composer and former ASCAP Foundation President Morton Gould's lifelong commitment to encouraging young creators. The award-winning composers share prizes of approximately $45,000, including the Leo Kaplan Award, in memory of the distinguished attorney who served as ASCAP Special Distribution Advisor; the Charlotte V. Bergen Scholarship for a composer 18 years of age or younger; and grants from The ASCAP Foundation Jack and Amy Norworth and Morton Gould Funds. Jack Norworth wrote such standards as "Shine On Harvest Moon" and "Take Me Out to the Ballgame."

In the youngest category, the following composers received Honorable Mention: Gabrielle Haigh, age 16 (OH); and Jeremiah Klarman, age 16 (MA).
