NEW YORK (Top40 Charts/ Columbia Records) - Music from "Glee," the critically acclaimed new comedy musical series from Ryan Murphy (Nip/Tuck) which debuted last night on Fox, immediately shot to the top of the iTunes charts. The "Glee" cast version of "Don't Stop Believin'" is currently No 2 on iTunes Top Songs chart, while a cast version of "Rehab" is currently at No 28 on the same chart. The reaction was immediate with "Don't Stop Believin'" shooting up the iTunes Top Songs chart before the East Coast broadcast had even concluded.
"Glee" made it's debut following the performance season finale of "American Idol" with 10 million viewers tuning in to witness what the LA Times called "the best thing you're going to see on broadcast television all year." Additional bonus preview tracks of future songs from the series are scheduled for a late summer release. The first soundtrack album will be released this Fall (TBA).

In a broadcast first, Fox premiered the debut episode of Glee 4 months before the show is set to join their Fall 2009 lineup. Glee was the No 1 series debut of the season among the key demographic of female teens and was the No 1 topic on Twitter.com on the evening of it's debut. Glee is also the second highest-rated debut of the season on any network (behind Lie To Me on January 21, 2009). Glee returns to Fox on Wednesdays (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) this Fall.
