LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts/ Interscope Records) - Just months after announcing that the original members were back after eight long years, hard-rock heroes
Limp Bizkit kicked off their world tour with the band's first-ever show in Riga, Latvia, last night.
Despite huge demand to visit the Baltics (and the fact DJ Lethal is Latvian-born!),
Limp Bizkit have never played the region - but in true LB fashion they tore the roof off the sucker! The crowd went crazy for such fan favorites as "Rollin'," "Nookie," and mosh-pit anthem "Break Stuff," proving that Fred Durst, Wes Borland, DJ Lethal, Sam Rivers and John Otto are back and better than ever! Eager fans can check out footage from the first show online at www.limpbizkit.com.
Says front man Fred Durst, "Grateful is an understatement, we are blessed to be united again, and in no way is this a reunion, this is a comeback. Cheers to you all!"
Limp Bizkit's 2009 "Unicorns N' Rainbows" tour rolls across Europe and Eastern Europe (including huge shows in Russia, Lithuania, Estonia, and the Ukraine) all summer-long, hitting all the major festivals and wowing Bizkit-starved fans in 20 countries before hitting Japan and the U.S. They film "MTV World Stage" at Germany's Rock Am Ring Festival June 7th - which will air on July 3rd in over 160 countries worldwide. The band also rocks in the 4th of July at Belgium's Werchter Festival with Metallica and co-headlines Japan's Summersonic Festival in Osaka on August 7th and Tokyo on August 9th with Jay-Z, among others.
Limp Bizkit will then make its triumphant return to America, performing their first stateside show in 8 years on July 11th live from Mandalay Bay. Tickets go on sale Monday, May 25th. The band is performing in association with the Ultimate Fighting Championship's "UFC 100" pay-per view event.
And if all that wasn't enough, Fred Durst, Wes Borland, Sam Rivers, John Otto, and DJ Lethal are gearing up to record their first new studio album with the original line-up since 2000's Worldwide 12x-platinum Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water. Flip/Interscope Records will announce more details and a release date in the coming months. The band's first three albums have sold more than 20 million copies in the U.S. alone, and another 13 million in the rest of the world.
