NASHVILLE, TN. (Top40 Charts/ MediaCandy PR) - Any number of bands have given fans pre-sale record opportunities and interesting promotions, but DADDY (Will Kimbrough & Tommy Womack) has combined the two and is offering 'Name Your Own Price' CDs and other exclusive DADDY merchandise opportunities.
In conjunction with the release of the new DADDY disc, For A Second Time, which will be available nationwide June 16, 2009, the band launched the Name Your Own Price campaign. The band launched the campaign because ultimately, no one could come agree on a price for the CD. 'It was like Goldilocks - this one's too high, this one's too low,' According to Womack, 'Name Your Own Price struck everybody as just right.' The fans are loving the campaign and doing the band right. At the present time, the average price being offered by fans is $12; double that of the average price paid by Radiohead fans. Jump on the DADDY bandwagon and Name Your Own Price now! The pre-order sale for For A Second Time end June 2, 2009!
Along with Name Your Own Price, the band decided to offer exclusive DADDY merchandise. In true DADDY style, these items aren't your standard merchandise fare. Along with autographed CD's, mugs, magnets and steins, Womack and Kimbrough are offering enticing items such as One-Of-A-Kind Hand Illustrated DADDY Ties, Two DADDYs (Will AND Tommy) to Play Ball with your kids for 90-minute session, One DADDY (Will or Tommy) to Mow Your Yard and Autographed, Original Artwork embellished Toro Rake and Vac Leaf Blower, which has already been sold to one lucky fan! 'Everybody's looking for a new angle nowadays, something nobody's tried before, and garden implements are IT,' says Womack. 'What says 'Daddy' better than a leaf-blower? Okay, an outdoor grill maybe, but we're not going to ship an outdoor grill.'
The Name Your Own Price campaign and the exclusive merchandise are both leading up to the release of the new disc, For A Second Time, which will be released just in time for Father's Day. Additional pre-release fan offerings included Live At Norm's and Rare and Unreleased Vol. 1 limited-edition CDs, which helped fund the band's trip to this year's SXSW. Consistent with the band's 2005 fan-favorite live CD, At The Women's Club, DADDY's forthcoming studio release, For A Second Time, is a seamless mesh of roots-rock, gospel, rockabilly and gritty blues. Echoes of Los Lobos and The Band's reverence for all American music permeate the record. For A Second Time is a compelling studio portrait of a band that can sting and swing.
Outside of DADDY, both Kimbrough and Womack have successful careers. Recognized as the Americana Music Association's 2005 'Instrumentalist of the Year", Will Kimbrough is one of Nashville's most in-demand session guitarists and has toured with the likes of Rodney Crowell, Todd Snider, Kim Richey, Josh Rouse and others. Kimbrough is an accomplished producer and touring singer-songwriter himself, with songs recorded by Jimmy Buffett, Jack Ingram and Little Feat.
Published author, vlogger, podcaster, singer-songwriter, indelible live performer and Alt-Country hero, Tommy Womack is undeniably one of the most creative personalities in the music business. Womack has shared the stage with Todd Snider, Peter Case, David Olney, Marshall Chapman and many others. His songs have been recorded by Jason & The Scorchers, Dan Baird, Pat Haney, Warner Hodges and Scott Kempner. Music is just one side of Womack. He is also the author of the cult classic memoir, 'Cheese Chronicles: The True Story of a Rock & Roll Band You've Never Heard Of.' Womack also has a second book, 'The Lavender Boys & Elsie,' a fictional collection of letters documenting the Civil War's only all-gay Confederate regiment, grisly murders at home, a well-accessorized Christmas show and the real reason for Pickett's Charge.
Drawing on juke-joint blues, country, gospel and rock, DADDY (Will Kimbrough & Tommy Womack) has been hailed by critics and fans alike and have raised the on bar on Alt-Country. Together, Kimbrough and Womack just click. Kimbrough's wide-ranging abilities, sweet and reckless by turns, dovetails with Womack's slash-and-burn style to produce a sound that is both exciting and heartfelt.
While DADDY primarily tours acoustically as a duo, they record and often perform with heavy-hitter A-listers John Deaderick (Dixie Chicks, Michael McDonald, Patty Griffin), Paul Griffith (one of Nashville's most sought-after session drummers) and Dave Jacques (John Prine, Emmylou Harris).
