NEW YORK (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - Brandi Shearer - the sultry and potent singer and songwriter who LA Weekly raved has "a heaven-sent, heart-shuddering vocal style that makes her sound worldly and seasoned" - will release her latest album 'Love Don't Make You Juliet' August 21st on Vinyl Tiger Music. The 12-song collection builds on the success of 2007's breakthrough 'Close To Dark,' hardwiring deeper, hip-shaking grooves to Shearer's powerful rockers and smoldering ballads.
"I personally love music you can dance to, love the simple chemistry of a good beat," says Shearer. "It was one of the guiding principles of this album, and I feel a step forward in my songwriting."
Album highlights include; "Live Wire," highlighted by Brandi's seductive vocals as she speaks of "misplaced electricity" and "white knuckles on the dashboard" over a dark, sweltering groove that could soundtrack an especially electric scene from 'True Blood.' Shearer declares "you will stand before me and explain the things you done" in the rousing, stomping "When You Wake Up." Other standouts include the meditative shuffle of "Night Singing Bird," and the brawny, driving "Losers & Freaks."

Produced by Craig Street (k.d. lang, John Legend, Cassandra Wilson), and recorded at Phantom Vox in Los Angeles, CA, Shearer crafted the album with an accomplished group of musicians - Christopher Bruce on guitar (Meshell Ndegeocello, Seal), Michael Jerome on drums (Richard Thompson, JJ Cale) and David Piltch on bass (k.d. lang, Joe Henry).
'Close To Dark' helped solidify Shearer as both a masterful songwriter and explosive live performer:
* "Haunting." -Entertainment Weekly
* "Showcased her impressively bluesy voice and songwriting. There's more than a touch of Janis Joplin heft...Shearer always seemed ready to cut loose and start smashing the furniture." -Variety
* "A chanteuse, sultry and late-night seductive one moment then bold and big-voiced the next." -Seattle Post-Intelligencer
