LONDON, UK (Top40 Charts/ Primary Talent International) - 'The new album showcases all of Imogen's remarkable talents: vocals, lyrics, composition and programming. 'Ellipse' runs the gamut of tone and style, mingling upbeat and energizing tracks with ones that are hypnotic and spellbinding. Her signature swirling vocals run powerfully through the downtempo set, with surprising twists and turns.' ACCESS HOLLYWOOD
British singer-songwriter-producer and two time Grammy nominee Imogen Heap is set to release her much anticipated new solo album 'Ellipse' on August 3rd 2009 through Epic Records.
After the leaps she made on the release of her last breakthrough album 'Speak For Yourself', Imogen remained true to her do-it-yourself ethos, building her own studio in the old family home in Essex, where she's almost finished making the new album, 'Ellipse'. Debuting some songs last week in the USA, both Spin and Access Hollywood wrote rave previews.
Picking up where she left off, Imogen continues to redress the Artist/Audience relationship with 'Ellipse' by enlisting the help of her huge fanbase to write the biography for the new album via Tweets submitted by her 300,000 (and counting!) followers on Twitter, to contribute artwork designs, and by keeping her fans up-to-date on the recording of the new album over 38 vBlogs, all available on her website. The vBlogs - recorded by film-maker Justine Pearsall - will be available as a DVD release to tie in with the album release. Upfront of the new album, Imogen even invited fans to complete an unfinished track 'The Song That Never Was', providing the lyrics, with over 500 fans adding backing music for their own versions. The response would be holding a world record had she thought to register it beforehand! All proceeds went to Twitter charity event Twestival.
Imogen has maintained a strong bond with her fans ever since spearheading the DIY music movement around the release of 'Speak For Yourself', where - dispensing with the need for a record label deal by creating her own label - support from her fans allowed Imogen both critical and commercial breakthroughs, including her Grammy nominations and half a million record sales.
Imogen was at the forefront of the online explosion, leading The Guardian to title her 'the first download diva' and independent online identity experts Garlik declaring her the No.1 online name ahead of world leaders and A-list celebrities.
She maintains one of the biggest profiles online, with more than 40 million plays and over 350,000 friends on Myspace and over 7 million views on You Tube for standout single from 'Speak For Yourself' and two-time Radio 1 'Record Of The Week' 'Hide And Seek' alone.
In addition to recording her new album, Imogen continues to be the artists' artist of choice when it comes to collaborations, notably on Nitin Sawhney's critically acclaimed current album 'London Undersound', with former Sneaker Pimp' IAMX on 'Secret Friend', and more recently teaming up with multi-platinum music artist Mika to write and produce a song on his brand new album due out later this year.
