New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ RealNetworks) - RealNetworks (Nasdaq: RNWK) today introduced RealPlayer SP, a new software application that enables customers to easily take Web video with them on their BlackBerry Bold, BlackBerry Curve series (models 83xx and 8900), BlackBerry 8800 series and BlackBerry Storm smartphones. RealPlayer SP enables people to easily convert and transfer video from the Web directly to their BlackBerry smartphone, so they can enjoy videos any time and anywhere.

RealPlayer SP automatically converts video for playback on the powerful media player that comes on BlackBerry smartphones, delivering clear and vibrant video with great sound quality. And with microSD cards that currently support up to 16 GB per card, customers can easily expand storage to carry more videos wherever they go.

"BlackBerry smartphones are popular around the world due to a powerful combination of functionality, performance and design that offer users a unique mobile experience," said Jack Klingert, Senior Vice President, RealNetworks. "RealPlayer SP takes the video experience on BlackBerry smartphones a step further. With a few simple clicks of the mouse, we're helping customers get even more value out of their favorite entertainment."

"The BlackBerry platform has steadily evolved to support our customers' desire for advanced multimedia applications and we are pleased to work with leading companies such as RealNetworks to expand the range of multimedia applications and functionality available on BlackBerry smartphones," said Jeff McDowell, Vice President, Global Alliances at Research In Motion. "With RealPlayer SP, RealNetworks has made it very quick and easy to take video from their desktop and mobilize it on their BlackBerry smartphone."

RealPlayer SP Beta is available as a free download from www.realplayer.com. Support for h.264 video conversion, DVD playback, and DVD burning is available to those customers who upgrade to RealPlayer Plus SP at a one-time cost of $39.99.
