New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Nexicon) - Latin
America is gearing up for one of the most exciting new reality shows to hit the airwaves as "Batalla de las Americas" (Battle of the Americas) begins airing this Sunday, June 28, 2009 in 23 countries throughout Latin America, including MEGA TV in the United States and Puerto Rico. The music-based reality television show features Nexicon's (Pink Sheets: NXCO) technology to geographically track all viewer voting and pits country against country in a global broadcast to pick the final member of Latin America's newest music super group XM2, featuring three of the former members of the boy-band Menudo.
The show's producers have selected Nexicon to geographically track each and every mobile and Internet vote that is cast and capture valuable data on where votes are coming from across the Americas. Nexicon's technology will also create a real-time graphic to be displayed onscreen during the show's airing and online at esmiplaneta.com, the premier portal for the global Latin community and exclusive online broadcast and title sponsor of Batalla de las Americas.
Nexicon and Batalla de las Americas' producer will be holding a joint shareholder call this Tuesday, June 30, 2009, to discuss the impact of Nexicon's technology on the show, how it's being used throughout production and airing, and how it has the power to impact how reality television and viewer participation intersect in the future.
"Batalla de las Americas is essentially the World Cup of soccer meets American Idol, and the amount of audience participation is expected to be tremendous as countries rally behind their own contestant to win the top prize," said Roy A. Sciacca, president and CEO of WorldVibe Entertainment Group, which produces Batalla de las Americas. "Nexicon's technology is brilliant in that it will allow viewers to see in real time how the voting is going and where their candidates stand and help create the kind of competitiveness we see with the World Cup and Olympics, but for music."
"This is an exciting opportunity for Nexicon to showcase a new power and depth of our technology to the entertainment world," said Tommy Stiansen, chief technology officer of Nexicon. "We'll be giving the show's producers valuable business analytics that they can use later for marketing and promotion purposes, while helping drive viewer participation and enthusiasm by allowing viewers to see in real time that each vote really does count."
Batalla de las Americas will be airing throughout Latin America from June 28, 2009 through September 20, 2009. A complete listing of where the show can be viewed through the Americas can be found at https://www.esmiplaneta.com/community/esmiplaneta_batallas.html
