Mila is a Kiev, Ukraine-born singer-songwriter and poet from New York, whose Russian and English songs are filled with passion, longing, dreams, hope, and inspiration, and whose repertoire includes Russian, Gypsy, and Yiddish hits. Mila's songwriting style blends influences from the legendary Russian Bard, Vladimir Visotsky, the world renown Charles Aznavour, as well as from the Russian gypsy and American pop music. Her singing style has often been compared to Edith Piaf's and Marlene Dietrich's. Mila has been writing poetry since she was seven, and songs-since she was thirteen. Back in Kiev, before immigrating to the United States, she attended the famous Glier Music College, where she studies chorus conducting and continues her training in voice and piano. While at school, she was also taking private guitar lessons. Her music is a combination of Russian, French, and other European influences. In May 2009, Mila released a 20-track CD, "My Voyage Back," a beautifully-arranged collection of emotionally-charged and personal Russian Bard-style songs(partially translated into English), with auto-biographical notes that demonstrate a connection between history and Mila's life. www.milamusik.com www.myspace.com/milasings
