
Ogden, UT. (Top40 Charts/ Ogden Pioneer Days) - The Ogden Pioneer Days 75th Anniversary Celebration will Cowboy Up next week as they welcome the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Associations' (PRCA) sanctioned rodeo for a weeklong competition beginning July 20, 2009.
'The rodeo is always one of the highlights of Ogden Pioneer Days, and we hope that people will take advantage of the rodeo, as well as the entertainment surrounding this year's competition,' said Desiree Cooper-Larsen, Ogden Pioneer Days Committee Chairwoman. 'We really feel like our rodeo is unmatched in the state. It's one of the longest running rodeos in the state, and is sponsored by the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association.'
The rodeo competition will run from Monday, July 20 - Friday, July 24, 2009. Each night the rodeo will feature a different theme, and will include pre-rodeo entertainment, including mutton busting, skydivers, wild cow milking, mini bull riding and mini bareback horse riding beginning at 6:30 p.m. Post-competition entertainment will include the Ogio Freestyle Motocross Riders and a fireworks show.
The first night of the rodeo will also feature a mini concert by the county group Due West. Due West is a three-man country group featuring Tim Gates, Brad Hull and Matt Lopez. Gates is a Richfield, Utah native, and joined the band after impressing the other two while playing his guitar at a party in college. The group is currently touring all over the country. The Ogio Freestyle Motocross Riders will be performing for the second straight year at Ogden Pioneer Days. The team has been called the most thrilling thing on two wheels at any rodeo. Rodeo events and activities will include the following:
* Monday, July 20, 2009 - Monday night is Standard Examiner Family Night. In addition to the Ogio Freestyle Motocross Riders, the rodeo and fireworks, the night will feature a mini concert by Due West.
* Tuesday, July 21, 2009 - Tuesday night is National Day of the American Cowboy. Pre-rodeo entertainment will include a wild cow milking contest, mutton busting and skydivers beginning at 6:30 p.m., followed by the rodeo, the Ogio Freestyle Motocross Riders and fireworks.
* Wednesday, July 22, 2009 - Wednesday night is Military/Veteran Appreciation Night. Pre-rodeo entertainment includes mini bull riding, mutton busting and skydivers.
* Thursday, July 23, 2009 - Thursday night is Tough Enough to Wear Pink night. Rodeo competitors and attendees are encouraged to wear pink to help raise money and awareness for breast cancer research. In addition to mutton busting and the skydivers, pre-rodeo entertainment will include the Miss Rodeo Utah Freestyle competition.
* Friday, July 24, 2009 - Friday is Pioneer Day. Pre-rodeo entertainment will include the Miss Rodeo Utah Coronation and mini bareback horse riding.
