New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - "deeper grooves and vocals that raise the roof" - NY Daily News, 8.11.09
'a true soul singer... She sings from the heart, and when music comes from there, you can't be denied.' - AOL Black Voices, 7.31.09
Ledisi (rhymes with 'legacy') brings the raw, no-holds-barred attitude of her new album 'Turn Me Loose,' (out 8.18, Verve Forecast) on tour this month. Expect anything at these live events as the "powder-keg R&B singer" (NY Times, 6.30.09) celebrates what she calls her new found 'freedom sound.' For example, at a recent show at NYC's Summerstage the soul vixen slipped out of red stilettos and into yellow Chuck Taylor's to dance in the crowd of revelers.
Always one to put her fans first, the Ledisi will include two free special album release parties/performances in DC and NYC.
August 18 - Washington, DC - The National Harbor - FREE performance and CD signing
August 19 - New York, NY - Le Poisson Rouge - FREE album release day celebration with a short performance and CD signing*
*limited public capacity; must have wristband to enter; wristbands available through J&R music with purchase of 'Turn Me Loose'; Limited giveaways through WBLS, BlackPlanet, Ledisi and VerveMusic on Twitter.
August 21 - Chicago, IL - Dedry Experience - featuring rare acoustic performance followed by Q&A
August 27 - Philadelphia, PA - Mann Center
After earning two GRAMMY nominations for her 2007 major label debut 'Lost & Found' and the numerous high profiled appearances that followed, Ledisi didn't rest on her laurels. Instead she opened up to top producers Jimmy Jam Terry Lewis, Raphael Saadiq, Chief Xcel, Chucky Thompson, Ivan and Carvin, Fyre Department and Rex Rideout revealing a 'street side,' spirituality and more dimensions of her personality. Ledisi says the experience was like 'going to college for songwriters. They made me stretch as a songwriter and become a stronger woman.'
