New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - Cara Dillon - 'quite possibly the world's most beautiful female voice' according to Q magazine - will release her rich, exquisitely crafted new album 'Hill of Thieves' in the US
September 15 on Charcoal Records/Proper American. One of Ireland's most beloved and acclaimed singers, Dillon has long been considered at the forefront of the traditional movement while always keeping her music with a foot in the present.
Her latest keeps her gorgeous voice at the the center of each composition. All the arrangements were conceived by Dillon and her husband Sam Lakeman, who also produced the album, with Lakeman's guitar and piano providing the foundation for each track as fiddles, whistle, bodhran and uilleann pipes build around them.
Dillon took time off from music after the dramatic, premature birth of her twin sons in November 2006, and upon her return to the studio, she found each session to be more focused than in the past, as she had less time with two young children to care for.
The time away refreshed and reinvigorated Dillon, and the album received across the board raves upon release in the UK earlier this year, and is her best selling album to date over there. Here's what we've been hearing:
"A beautifully balanced production. It's impossible not to be held spellbound... an artist this good deserves to be savored."
