Mr Popcorn Release

PARIS, France (Top40 Charts/ Mr Popcorn Official Website) - Except if you followed the "Printemps de Bourges" (France) unsigned band competion's finals in 2006, there is no reason why you should know Mr Popcorn. We'll be brief anyway, as we also believe that Music should be more important than the stories or personalities of peoples creating it.

Mr Popcorn is a French Hip Hop band (Paris) composed by Mr Pix and Mr Viane. We could add Mr Daf, who's very often delivering his soulful voice on the songs, but he's an "unofficial" member... Anyway... They liaised through Rap music in 1998 and formed a band with some friends, which died quickly after a few appearances on some compilations and shows. Even though the 2 friends didn't loose their passion for emceeing and in 2003 they started the Mr Popcorn project with a new team.

Back alongside them was Dj Julien Lebrun (Man Ray's compilations, MILAN,...), who had since then founded his own label, Hotacasa Records (Hi-Perspective, Franck Biyong, Kissey Asplund, Setenta, Orlando Julius,...). And besides recording many demos during this period, the duo also met many musicians close from the label such as bass player Mr Meak (Hi-Perspective, Kojak, F-Com,...), drummer Nicolas "K" (26Pinel, Rwan, Java, Makasound,...) and keyboardist Florian Pelissier (Franck Biyong, Setenta, F-Com,...).

They also decided to submit their work to the "Printemps de Bourges" festival's unsigned competition and managed to reach the finals in the Hip Hop/Reggae category (for the story, no awards were given this year... we still don't know why). Back then, Popcorn's music was very funk, with break-beat productions which didn't pleased everyone, despite being very successful on stage.

It's also when Viane started producing some beats that Mr Popcorn found its formula. Quickly helped by Mr Meak, the guys recorded 4 songs and decided to release their first EP. "EP.opcorn" is now therefore available on CD through their myspace (www.myspace.com/misterpopcorn) and on all Digital Download stores.
