New York (Top40 Charts/ Basic NYC) - Think Swedish music and you're more than likely to imagine ABBA. That is of course unless you're familiar with the bonecrushing Stockholm techno scene that's been rattling bassbins for more than a decade. One of the stalwarts of that scene, the tremendously talented JOEL MULL, will be making a rare New York City appearance on Saturday
September 12th, when he brings his diverse bag of underground sounds to Sullivan Room for his Basic NYC debut.
Joel Mull, along with his peers and partners such as Adam Beyer, Alexi Delano, Cari Lekebusch, and Jesper Dahlback, has been at the vanguard of Sweden's techno scene since the mid-90s, but today his influence is felt worldwide. A dynamic producer and remixer, Joel's music covers a wide range of feelings and sounds, veering from tough, hypnotic techno, to more moody and melodic minded house. He's found a home for his music on a wide variety of cutting edge labels, with recent releases on Nic Fanciulli's Saved, Sven Vath's Cocoon and Steve Bug's Audiomatique among others. His tracks on Beyer's Drumcode and Truesoul labels, as well as his own Inside label, are some of the biggest bombs to emerge from the Swedish scene, and have all established Mull as a producer with a knack for destroying the dancefloor.
Joel's DJing schedule reflects the worldwide regard for his turntable skills. From regular appearances With appearances in hotspots like Space (Ibiza), Ageha (Tokyo), Cocoon (Frankfurt) and Berghain (Berlin), Mull can be heard rocking the most discerning dancefloors and music-loving crowds. This will be his first time playing for Basic NYC, and we're very excited to welcome this rising superstar for a rare New York appearance. The lineup for this night is stacked with great music. Warming things up is K1000 from Evoke Productions, who recently made their Sullivan Room debut with Mobilee's GummiHz. Opening for Joel will be Lola and Spider from NYC's Plan B Recordings, whose joint appearances at Deep See and other parties have earned them a distinct reputation for cutting edge house and tech. Closing up the night will be Basic NYC's residents Sleepy & Boo.
