NASHVILLE, TN. (Top40 Charts/ Music City News Media & Marketing) - Award winning, multi-platinum recording artist, Tracy Lawrence, is set to perform at memorable concert for American troops stationed at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba in early October.

As an extraordinary detour from his upcoming fall tour across the U.S., Tracy will perform at the base at Guantanamo Bay on Sunday, October 4, 2009; the visit will situate him before a unique audience unlike any other in his 20-year career.

Commonly referred to as 'Gitmo,' Guantanamo Bay is the location of the American detainment facility and home to nearly eight thousand U.S. troops stationed at the base that is located on Cuba's shore. Guantanamo Bay has the distinction of being the oldest U.S. base overseas and the only one in a Communist country.

'I jump at the opportunity to perform for our servicemen and women when I am able-for those who do so very much to protect our freedoms and security,' Lawrence said. 'Without question 'Gitmo' has made headline news, both past and present, but the people situated there are giving and caring individuals. We need to be thankful everyday for their sacrifices and commitment to our country.'

Tracy's visit has been organized as part of the Liberty Program; the program caters to the service members living in Guantanamo Bay hosting a wide range of recreational activities. With entertainment events yearlong as part of the Liberty Program, entertainers such as John Michael Montgomery and Ted Nugent have also visited the naval base.

With more than 100 dates on the books this year, the quick trip to Cuba rounds out Lawrence's 2009 show schedule. In June, Lawrence released his first inspirational project (the third album from his own independent label, Rocky Comfort Records) entitled THE ROCK; the CD debuted in the Top 20 country albums and Top 5 Christian albums (6/14/09 Nielsen US SoundScan Chart).

Tracy Lawrence is fast approaching his second decade in the music industry, officially celebrating the milestone in 2010, with more than 8 million albums sold, 17 celebrated No. 1 singles (including 'Paint Me A Birmingham,' 'Alibis' and 'Find Out Who Your Friends Are') and more than 30 charted singles to his name.
