LONDON, UK (Top40 Charts/ Raw Material) - Hot new band Gaoler's Daughter invite you to celebrate their first EP release 'The Only Way to Travel' at Pure Groove on 01 December at 18.00. Gaoler's Daughter's sound is heavily rooted in the heart of London (featuring ex-members from Larrikin Love, Littl'ans, No Picasso and Letters From London), drawing from influences such as Can, The Kooks, The Smiths and Captain Beefheart - in other words, it's a strange amalgamation that sends shivers down the spine, with a sound you have never heard before. The band have also just been asked to support Babyshambles on their up coming tour. The music transports you to another world, which for any Wind In The Willows fan will recognise that The Gaoler's Daughter aids Mr Toad's escape from incarceration, so escapism is definitely a key theme! Having formed in 2008, the boys already know what they're doing. John Sterry's articulate vocal stands in stark contrast to the often disturbing content of his lyrics. Alex Mahood's guitar, washed in reverb, cuts uplifting counter melodies into the driving, yet measured rhythms created by Alfie Ambrose and Ben Hutchinson. Gaoler's Daughter are delighted to invite you to the launch of their EP at Pure Groove, a music/ shop/ bar/ gallery in the heart of Smithfield, hosting some of the world's greatest bands on their specially constructed stage. Drinks will be provided as well as light snacks and a Gaoler's Daughter goodie bag. Please RSVP to [email protected]
